Membership is easy. Just fill out the form and submit online with payment for membership through PayPal. What does one receive for becoming a member of The American Woman Organization? The first 100 members to join will have the title Founding Mother bestowed upon them. With each membership comes a certificate of membership, an ID card, a free Susan B Anthony dollar coin, and an annual directory. Membership is by PayPal or postal service only. Hurricane Hazel does not let much stand in her way. Her path is not destruction, but rather a force that reckons with government waste, government debt, and government power grabs. This remarkable woman, who should serve as a model for every American politician, is currently serving her eleventh term as Mayor of Mississauga, Ontario. She is a former professional hockey player.     Hazel McCallion was first elected Mayor of Mississauga in November, 1978, and is the longest serving Mayor in the City's history.  She was 
acclaimed in 1980, re-elected in 1982 and 1985, acclaimed again in 1988 and  re-elected in 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2003.
      Mayor McCallion was born in Port Daniel on the Gaspe Coast of Quebec and educated in Quebec City and Montreal. She then began a career with Canadian Kellogg and remained with the company for 19 years.
      In 1967 she decided to leave the corporate world and devote her career to politics. Mayor McCallion was named as a new member of the Streetsville Planning Board in 1964 and served as Chair of the Board in 1966 and again in 1968.  Later that same year, she became Deputy Reeve of Streetsville.  Mayor McCallion was appointed Reeve, and then elected as Mayor of Streetsville in 1970, serving until December, 1973.
      When the Region of Peel was established in 1974, Mayor McCallion was elected to the Mississauga and Peel Regional Councils.  She served two terms as a Councillor prior to her mayoral campaign in 1978. By the time she was elected Mayor, she had sat on virtually every committee at the Region of Peel and the City of Mississauga.
      She has also served on the executive of many federal and provincial committees and associations, including President of the Association of 
Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) from 1978 - 79.  She is now in her eleventh term as Mayor. 
      Mayor McCallion has played a leading role for women in politics.  She is the first woman to hold such significant positions as President of the  Streetsville and District Chamber of Commerce; President of the Anglican Young Peoples' Association of Canada; Mayor of Streetsville and Mayor of Mississauga.  She was chosen one of the "American Women of the Year" in Who's Who of American Women (which refers to North American women). Mayor McCallion also holds Germany's highest individual honour, the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, for her role in bringing German companies to Canada. Her Worship has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by Rotary International in 1985
In 1991, Mayor McCallion became the first Mayor of a major municipality to submit the annual operating budget to residents for their input and
scrutiny.  She is also among the first mayors of major municipalities to be openly committed to a pay-as-you-go philosophy.  The City has not had to borrow money since 1978 and is currently debt-free.
      In 1992, she was awarded the Lions International President's Award, awarded the Helen Keller Fellowship from the Mississauga Lions Clubs and named a Melvin Jones Fellow for dedicated humanitarian services by Lions Clubs International.Mayor McCallion also established the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Mayors' Committee in 1992.  She brought together the 30 GTA Mayors, later adding the Chair of Metro Toronto and the four Regional Chairs to work co-operatively for the economic promotion of the GTA.  From 1992 to January 2000, the Committee, chaired by Mayor McCallion, was a strong voice on key issues affecting the future of the GTA.  As part of that effort, she is also Honorary Co-chair of the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance.
      In 1996, Mayor McCallion was appointed to the "Who Does What" Panel established by the Province to review the delivery and funding of 
government services.  She was also appointed to two sub-panels: Assessment and Property Taxation Reform, and Emergency Services. In 2001, Mayor McCallion was inducted into the Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame and presented with a special Award of Excellence in celebration of the Mississauga Board of Trade's 25th Anniversary.
      In addition, the Mayor represents the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) on the Electricity Transition Committee for the Ministry of 
Electricity, Science and Technology.  In February 2002, Mayor McCallion was appointed Chair of the Central Ontario Smart Growth Panel by the Hon. 
Chris Hodgson, Minister of Municipal Affairs.  The panel, made up of 22  local government officials and business leaders, advised the provincial government on how to plan for growth for the central region in both the short and long term.  In addition to the pressing issue of growth, the panel looked at other issues including gridlock and waste disposal.  The panel, the largest in the province, includes the cities of Brantford and 
Kawartha Lakes, the Counties of Dufferin, Simcoe and Peterborough, the Regions of Niagara, Waterloo, Halton, Peel, York and Durham, as well as
 the City of Toronto.
      In January 2003, Mayor McCallion received the Canadian Family Values Award from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In September 2003, Mayor McCallion received one of the top leadership awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for her leadership and dedication to addressing economic development issues in Mississauga.
      In 2004, Mayor McCallion became a finalist for the title World Mayor 2004, joining some 50 mayors from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe.  The competition intends to raise the profile of mayors worldwide, as well as honour those who have served their communities well and who have contributed to the well-being of cities, nationally and internationally.
      In 2005, Mayor McCallion was invested as Dame in the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, the Hereditary Order. In May 2005, she was honoured with an award from the Province of Ontario in recognition of her more than 30 years of service as a municipal elected official.
      The Mayor's accolades continued in 2005, as Mayor McCallion was appointed Member of the Order of Canada and received her Insignia of Member of the Order of Canada at a ceremony held at Rideau Hall on November 18, 2005.
      On December 5, 2005 it was announced that Mayor McCallion was the runner up to Mayor Dora Bakoyannis of Athens, Greece for World Mayor 2005.
      In early 2006, Mayor McCallion was recognized as the CNW Communicator of  the Year by the Toronto Chapter of the International Association of 
Business Communicators (IABC).

AND THE WINNER IS....not young American women or Carrie Prejean. The American Woman Organization
denounces and repudiates this hate filled treatment by Perez Hilton of a young American woman, Carrie Prejean, Miss California USA and First Runner-Up in the Miss USA Pageant.

Outrageous!!! Outrageous describes the hate filled treatment Miss California, Carrie Prejean, received after answering a question from professional gay bloviator Miss USA judge, Perez Hilton.
Miss California, Carrie Prejean, is a college student majoring in Special Education. She volunteers for the Special Olympics. She was a contestant, as Miss California, in the Miss USA Pageant broadcast recently where Hilton was one of the judges and he asked her about a very controversial topic. During the question and answer segment of the Miss USA Pageant she demonstrated a conservative view and predicated her answer on traditional values her family had taught her, values taught to her by her family. Carrie Prejean is convinced that the answer she gave cost her the title of Miss USA in the pageant. Reaction of Shanna Moakley and her partner Keith Lewis seem to bear that out as truth. Even Perez Hilton told ABC News that she lost it because of that answer, and prior to her answer had been the front runner. The story was picked up by media worldwide. “Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?” was the question Perez Hilton asked. It is a question asking for opinion and she gave her honest opinion, after all this is a free country, right? Freedom of speech and all that is still currently effective. Carrie Prejean's answer was not what he wanted and obviously was not the politically correct one. She answered thusly: “Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offence to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you.” The professional gay bloviator then proceeded to bash her with pejorative profanity.Please click on the hyperlinks if you wish to know what he called her as it is not language for polite company. Miss California asserts that she lost the title because of her answer to the question. The reaction of Shanna Moakler, presented below, and her business partner certainly seems to bear that out. Even Perez Hilton had previously remarked to ABC News; "She lost it because of that question. But Moakler and her business partner, Keith Lewis, a strong activist against Proposition 8, were so infuriated over Prejean’s answer to Perez Hilton’s gay marriage question during Sunday’s crowning, they refused to make contact with the San Diego native after the show. While all of the state pageant directors were quick to greet their beauty queens after the live telecast, Moakler and Lewis did not go backstage, nor did they call Prejean to congratulate her on being first runner-up for Miss USA, after Prejean told a national TV audience that she was personally opposed to gay marriage.Instead, Moakler started Twittering. [snip] Moakler, who sources say was very close friends with Prejean (who was first runner-up in the Miss California USA pageant in 2008 before winning in 2009), also issued an apology to her state pageant sponsors on Monday, saying that "Prejean’s opinions do not stand for those of the Miss California family."[snip] "Every year, tens of thousands of dollars are donated for the pageant and its prizes," explained a source close to Moakler’s team. "Already she (Moakler) has had to deal with very upset companies, because they gave so much to Carrie, and think she betrayed them. People in California, more so than most states, are particularly passionate about overturning Prop 8 --especially those in the pageant/beauty world."

Perez Hilton From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. (born March 23, 1978 in Miami, Floridan is an American blogger born to Cuban parents and television perosnality. His blog is known as Perezhilton.com (formerly PageSixSixSix.com), which he writes under the pseudonym Perez Hilton. On his website, Lavandeira posts gossip items about musicians, actors and celebrities. He often posts tabloid photographs over which he has added his own captions or "doodles." Hilton served as a judge for the Miss USA 2009 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 19, 2009. During the Q&A portion of the contest, Hilton's question came to the Miss California representative, Carrie Prejean.
