The American Woman organization is dedicated to improving our nation by creating an environment of hope and unity. We promise to work tirelessly to improve conditions in our nation and community and affect positive change in the world around us. Politically, we may be Democrats, Republicans, Independents or Other, but here we will come together to work toward the empowerment of the American Woman. We affirm the importance of working together to find solutions. With that notion ever present in our minds, if we tread the two subjects that seem to be so divisive to all, it will be with great respect to all viewpoints; those two subjects are abortion and gay rights. With this approach we believe strongly that the barriers to all the American women working cohesively as one unified group might at last be accomplished. The absence of that one unified voice is what has to date been the primary obstacle to creating progress for the American Woman - and by association the obstacle for creating real and lasting progress for our families.
The American Woman organization will operate lawfully and respectfully in all matters. We believe in fairness for all. Fairness that reflects the respect for The American Woman's ability to freely pursue life, liberty, and happiness free of sexism, misogyny, ageism, and bias toward women. We fully expect, and will work toward, the fair reflection of women in our government. The American Woman organization will not waiver in the conviction to create a better nation and community for all citizens. For, as Hillary Clinton so aptly said it in her 1995 address in Beijing China, "Human rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human rights."
If we stand together, we can make a difference. We are not alone in our convictions or struggles. There are others working parallel to or in coordination with us toward our goals.
The debate plank in our platform will take place in our sister site, http://blog.theamericanwoman.org/. Make a habit of going there every chance you get a moment and help make the debate lively, timely, and pertinent to the American Woman of today.
